A B.C. cyclist is recovering after being hit by a car in West Vancouver, and thrown about 15 metres.
The force of the collision hurled the man's bicycle atop a street sign. The 21-year-old victim, who requested anonymity, suffered a "significant laceration to the abdomen, along with extensive bruising and abrasions," West Vancouver police Const. Jeff Palmer told The Huffington Post B.C. on Monday.
The man was crossing the intersection of Marine and Erwin Drive on July 3 when a 62-year-old woman making a left turn in her vehicle crashed into him.
It's possible the evening sun impeded the driver's visibility, said Palmer. She's facing a ticket for failing to yield on a left turn.
The cyclist, who escaped with no head, neck or spine injury, is recovering at home,added Palmer.
